• Problem: Graphics errors occur with Mesa-Git 26.0.0.

• Problem: The Mod.io browser doesn’t appear in-game.
  • Solution: Utilize a GE version of Proton. Ensure mod directories exist in both the game and documents directories. This is an Anno bug impacting both Windows and Linux systems.
• Problem: The game prompts for a CD key during initial launch.
  • Solution: Stop the game through Steam and relaunch to bypass the prompt.
• Problem: Ubisoft Connect remains active after exiting the game, inflating playtime.
  • Solution: Run the game using Gamescope: gamescope %command%
• Problem: Audio issues, including crackling, may occur.
  • Solution: -sdlaudiodriver=pulse

Verdict

Anno 1800 runs flawlessly on Linux with Proton. The Steam version provides a superior experience compared to the Ubisoft Launcher version. This is a recommended purchase for Linux gamers.
