PROTON TIER: PLATINUM

ARC Raiders is a multiplayer extraction adventure set on a future Earth ravaged by mechanized threats. The game runs smoothly on Linux via Proton.

TWEAKS & TRICKS:

  • Failed to Initialize Dependencies (Wayland): Users encounter this error when launching without specific launch options. Solution: PROTON_USE_DYNAMIC_LLVM=1 %command%
  • Graphics & Input Lag on Tab Out/In: Lag and rendering issues can occur after tabbing in and out of the game window. No specific solution is provided, but restarting the game resolves the issue.
  • Hard Crashes During Match Load (Tabbed Out): The game hard-crashes if tabbed out during the match loading process, particularly when launching topside. Solution: Ensure the game window steals focus on game load by toggling the setting to “on”.
  • Massive FPS Drops (DLSS): DLSS functionality is not working as expected and causes significant FPS drops. No workarounds are mentioned.
  • Performance Improvement: Some users report 3-5fps improvement over Windows 11. Solution: cachyos-10.0-20260101-slr

Verdict: ARC Raiders is an excellent choice for Linux gamers, achieving Platinum status on ProtonDB. While a few issues exist, they are generally manageable and do not detract significantly from the overall experience.
