TWEAKS & TRICKS

  • Missing Fonts: Missing fonts in Trading Post and Wizard’s Vault. Solution: Follow Antrix’s guide in “[Steam/Proton] Wizard Vault’s Fonts” on Guild Wars 2 forum.
  • Stuttering (Intel 12th Gen+ Processors): Stuttering due to CPU scheduling utilizing slower E-Cores. Solution: taskset -c 0-x %command% (where x is the last P-core thread).
  • Audio Crackling: Audio crackling when multiple audio types are active. Solution: Leave only one audio type enabled (e.g., background music only).
  • Performance Issues in Fractals/Large Maps (Ryzen X3D CPUs): Significant performance issues in certain Fractals or larger maps. Solution: WINEDEBUG=-all %command% -provider Portal -USEALLAVAILABLECORES (Before setting this, ensure you are on a multi-CCD Ryzen X3D CPU).
  • Performance Issues in Fractals/Large Maps (Non-X3D CPUs): WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=16 can improve performance. Solution: WINEDEBUG=-all %command% -provider Portal -USEALLAVAILABLECORES

Verdict

Guild Wars 2® is a solid purchase for Linux gamers. The game runs exceptionally well through Proton, with performance enhancements possible through specific commands for certain CPUs.
