RV There Yet?

PROTON TIER: PLATINUM

RV There Yet? - Technical Documentation

RV There Yet? is a co-op adventure game where players drive their Recreational Vehicle across the country, encountering quirky characters and solving puzzles.

Status Check: Runs via Proton. Tier: Platinum.

TWEAKS & TRICKS:

  • Fullscreen Issues: Fullscreen may fail after initial setup, reverting to a windowed mode.
    • Solution: VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.x86_64.json __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=0 DRI_PRIME=pci-0000:03:00.0 %command%
  • CPU Performance: Processor runs at a low frequency, reducing performance.
    • Solution: Force CPU to maximum frequency using processor-specific overclocking techniques outside of Proton. (User reports indicate this is a CPU issue, not a Proton one.)
  • DX12 Instability: DX12 leads to crashes after a few minutes.
    • Solution: Use DX11. No specific launch options are needed, as DX11 is used by default if DX12 fails.
  • Hosting Instability (Linux Host): Linux players randomly crash out when playing with a Linux host.
    • Solution: Host on Windows. No specific launch options are needed.

Verdict: RV There Yet? is a solid buy for Linux gamers, especially given its Platinum rating on ProtonDB. While some players may need to adjust CPU performance or host on Windows to avoid crashes, the core gameplay experience is readily available and enjoyable.
