Status Check

The game has a native Linux version, but reports indicate it is currently unstable and often fails to launch. Proton is recommended for a playable experience, although it remains problematic.

TWEAKS & TRICKS

  • Problem: Game crashes when opening the file browser under Wayland.

  • Solution: GDK_BACKEND=x11 %command%

  • Problem: Native version gets stuck on “Running” without opening a window.

  • Solution: This issue is inherent to the current state of the native version and cannot be circumvented.

  • Problem: Consistent game freeze when joining a multiplayer lobby.

  • Solution: This issue is beyond the scope of potential user-level fixes.

  • Problem: Multiplayer disconnects quickly after entering a lobby using the Snap version of Steam on Ubuntu.

  • Solution: Reinstall Steam through their website instead of using a Snap package.

  • Problem: Wayland crashes upon opening filepicker.

Verdict

While the game boasts a native Linux version, current instability makes it difficult to recommend for most Linux gamers. Proton offers a slightly more reliable, though still imperfect, experience. Expect potential crashes and performance issues.
