TWEAKS & TRICKS

  • Installation: Installation is identical to Windows. Launch commands are optional unless encountering issues.
  • Addons Directory: To utilize addons, create a symbolic link from your “~/Documents” folder to the Proton prefix location: /SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/306130/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents.
  • Audio Crackling: Audio crackling. Solution: PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 %command%
  • Performance with Memory Bugs: Game crashes due to memory bugs, especially with addons. Solution: PROTON_HEAP_DELAY_FREE=1 (Use alongside STAGING_SHARED_MEMORY=1 to improve memory sharing performance.)
  • Shader Stuttering (DX11): Stuttering caused by shader compilation. Solution: DXVK_ASYNC=1
  • Framerate Limiting (No Mangohud): Limit FPS. Solution: DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 (Change to DXVK_FRAME_RATE=120 for higher limits.)
  • Framerate Limiting (Mangohud): Limit FPS. Solution: gamemoderun mangohud --fps_limit=60 %command%
  • Nvidia API & DLSS: Enable Nvidia API and DLSS features. Solution: PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NGX_UPDATER=1 PROTON_DLSS_UPGRADE=1 %command% (Remove PROTON_DLSS_UPGRADE=1 if not using DLSS.)
  • Sync Issues: If experiencing synchronization issues, use NO_ESYNC and NO_NTSYNC. Solution: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_NTSYNC=1 %command% (Use an FPS limiter instead of disabling sync if possible.)
  • General Performance & Nvidia API: Enable Nvidia API. Solution: PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
