webview2 - Microsoft Edge Web View 2inside the dependencies of your Proton bottle. - Slow Loading Times: Loading times are reported to be significantly slower (3x) on Linux compared to Windows, even on identical hardware.
- Launcher Startup: Use Proton GE 8-26 on Lutris specifically through the Wargaming Launcher for reliable startup. This configuration did not work on the Steam version or with the WGC launcher.
- Framerate vs. Perceived Performance: High framerates (185fps) can feel sluggish. Enable V-SYNC in-game to synchronize the framerate with your monitor’s refresh rate.
- Memory Allocation Errors: A user experienced a memory allocation error during gameplay. No specific solution provided.
- Sticky Shift Key: The SHIFT key exhibited sticky/double key behavior. The user resolved this by remapping the “Binocular” function to the SPACE key within the game settings.
- Game Crashes/Instability: A full OS reinstall reportedly fixed various issues, but the root cause remains unknown.
Verdict: Despite being a Gold Tier title on ProtonDB, World of Warships on Linux requires specific configurations and presents some performance and stability considerations. Users should be prepared to utilize Lutris, Proton GE versions, and potentially a full OS reinstall to address issues. Proceed with caution, especially regarding performance and stability.
